Hello!
Although it is hard to believe, the year is almost over and November is in full swing! Today I want to share with you a fun library display for No-Shave November- I Mustache You to Read These Books! This project was a great excuse to use my Silhouette Cameo and the PixScan mat, and super easy to make just using good ol’ scissors.
The first step? Finding some mustaches to print for the books. I decided to Google a variety of shapes of colors, and even found a few rather realistic fuzzy ones.
I printed various mustaches on a few 8.5” x 11” pieces of paper and made lots of copies. I didn’t print registration marks using my Silhouette software because I wanted to try out my PixScan mat!
Could you do this will scissors? Of course! But I found I could cut the swirly styled ‘staches much faster and accurately with the
SILHOUETTE PIXSCAN MAT.
The process was super easy- I just snapped a picture of the mustaches on the mat and loaded it into the software on my computer. I traced the mustaches easily and loaded the mat into my Cameo.
The machine read the registration marks and swiftly cut out each mustache. I made sure to line up each new piece of paper in the same manner and popped the mat back into the machine each time.
I whipped up a vintage sign using the Silhouette software and then came the fun part- finding the best book covers featuring faces. I cut plenty of extras so we could keep the ‘stache shenanigans up all month-long!
This process would also be perfect for your next party decor and photo props!
Let’s not forget No-Shave November isn’t just for warm faces- it is a unique way to grow cancer awareness.
