Hello!
With Halloween less than a week away I wanted to share a quick vinyl craft with big impact. These Spooky Skeleton Halloween Hurricanes are the perfect addition to your Halloween decor!
My inspiration for this project? The one and only Martha Stewart. Last year for Halloween I picked up this Martha Stewart window cling set from the craft store on sale. Zombies are holiday theme in our house so these were a perfect fit.
(With a quick check online, it looks like this particular product has been discontinued- but this project could apply to any Halloween decor you already have!)
I used the window clings in our entry way, but decided I wanted to continue the zombie/skeleton theme further in our house. I bought a couple of glass hurricanes from goodwill years ago, and decided I would transform them into spooky table top decor.
You can find similar hurricanes to purchase online at
SAVE ON CRAFTS.
The process? I imported the window cling product picture into my Silhouette software and used the trace feature on each skeletal hand. I copied a few of the traced shapes in various sizes and loaded a roll of black reposition-able vinyl into my Silhouette. After cutting out the hands, I peeled them and stuck them on to the glass. That’s it!
The best part of this project?-
The spooky shadows cast on the walls!
If you want to make your own hurricanes to match your existing Halloween decor, simply google a similar image or find a product picture online to trace using your digital die cut machine’s software! (Make sure if you follow this process, the images you use are personal use only!)
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you are inspired to make your own Halloween hurricanes! Make sure to follow me on Pinterest, and check out my Everything Fall board for more seasonal decor ideas!
These are awesome! I love how they project the skeleton fingers on the wall when lit. My kids would love them. Pinning for next year!

Thanks so much Kati! I’ve been brainstorming other designs too and what shadows they would make. I’m a little obsessed I think. 🙂
I love this idea. It is so easy and fun. I’ll have to put this under my Halloween pins too!

Thanks Kelley! They really were easy- I had to find something else to craft that day with all the left over time I had!
