Hello friends!
This week I tapped into my overabundance of sequins and created another shaker card I absolutely love– a card fit for a beer drinker (male or female, or course!) With a special birthday coming up I designed this simple birthday beer shaker card. I’m excited to share my process and my free Silhouette Studio file, or JPG to trace for those of you using other cutting software!
This card was inspired by a beer drinker in the family (you may have one of those- or are one of those! 😉 ) First, I sought out the perfect mug. I ended up finding my image on google, so as a reminder, this card is for personal use only, and created using the generosity of some awesome person’s clip art!
Once I designed the card front to my liking, I traced the image in Silhouette Studio. I used some fancy offset work to create the cutout window, leaving the outline of the glass visible for even more detail. I printed my card front, and used my PixScan mat to cut out the window perfectly.
After cutting the mug window, I added even more detail by heat embossing the foam in a gloss white. I use Zing white embossing powder for many of my projects, including this one.
After embossing the front, I added some more detail with my white Prismacolor pencil and a black gel pen for the foam bubbles on top of the embossed area. It’s difficult to tell in the pictures, but the beer background is actually a mustard iridescent/glitter card stock. The top layer is adhered to the base with strips of adhesive craft foam to form a rectangle container for the sequins.
A piece of leftover thick acetate from product packaging (I always keep them for this reason!) cut to size makes the shaker window.
And that’s it- as simple as I promised! This project is perfect for birthday cards, graduation cards, or even a Father’s day card. As promised the Silhouette Studio file is attached below. For those of you who use other programs, I’ve also provided the JPG 5×7″ you can easily trace and cut for the same effect. Don’t own a cutting machine? The JPG file is perfect to print and color for that special someone!
